Game 9: Red Sox fall to the Nationals

I'll be honest. I'm not in the best of health, nor too excited to be blogging about a Boston loss, so I'll make this brief.

Miley's first start in Boston since leaving Arizona wasn't too great. He only made it just over two innings before they had to pull him. Can't win like that honestly. They had it 0-2 before we could blink. Victorino had a spectacular start to the game however. Isn't that the way it works though? One player kills it every game, win or loss, then the next game they lay low and someone else like Napoli or Betts steps up. If we had two players do that a game we'd be unstoppable! (Well that and a decent starter)

By the bottom of the 2nd, the guys managed to bring in a couple runs to tie the game up at 2-2. The 3rd inning, however, pulled away from us. It started with a Desmond homer and then double and after double until the Sox were down 2-8. This is when the pitching change happened. Varvaro came in.

The game remained kind of slow in the 4th and 5th innings with no progress being made on either side. At 2:49 PM there was a lovely and powerful tribute to those who lost their lives during the Boston Marathon bombing two years ago yesterday. Filled with a new sense of purpose, and a double off from Dustin Pedroia, Hanley Ramirez shoots out his 4th homer of the year. (9 RBIs in all at that point) The game played on until Brock Holt gets his double to make it 5-8 in the bottom of the 6th. I left work at this point and headed out to the track to run so I missed the last of the game but that's ok.

Red Sox lose the last game in the series to the Washington Nationals, 5-10
