| Gettin' real in the Taco Tomb |
1st top: Masterson retires the inning with two strike-outs. Clean. Low outside pitching.
1st bottom: Dustin Pedroia singles out and David Ortiz singles after getting tagged in the foot off of a foul ball.
2nd top: Nationals on the Green Monster first. 0-1
2nd bottom: With two on, Mookie Betts shows up with a laser down the left field line. Sandoval gets shot in the foot by Strasburg. 2-1 Sox.
3rd inning: Nava singles. 3-1 Hannigan singles. 4-1
4th inning: Pedroia finds his third home-run of the season. 5-1 lead goes to Boston.
5th inning... : This is the inning that Masterson started to fall to pieces. He hit two players in the inning. The first one lead to a 4-0 run from the Nationals as his pitching began to lead to hits or hideous walk after walk. The second hit player was the last player he faced. Farrell took him out. Ogando took over. Masterson is charged with the next two runs. Ogando finally ends this nightmare. 5-7 Nats.

6th bottom: Strasburg out. Stammen in. Betts gets on base then steals 2nd for his third stolen base of the year. Pedroia walks. Nationals get nervous and pull Stammen for former right-handed Boston pitcher, Thornton and he retires the side on Big Papi.
Top of the 7th: Mujica replaces Ogando. Napoli's talents are called on for the first time tonight with back to back groundouts to first. Mujica strikes out Ian Desmond for the 1-2-3 out. Still Nationals, 5-7.
Bottom of the 7th: Ramirez reaches the base off of an error from Desmond. (Must be a little shaken up from not getting on base for once) Victorino gets hit and makes it to first. (So much hostility today!) Napoli flies out to Harper. Looks like Allen Craig will be pinch hitting for Nava. And like that Craig gets hit to head to first! Hannigan pops one out and Treinen (after the pitching change) scoops it up for the double play to end the inning but he drops it! Tied! Brock Holt grounds out but Allen Craig comes on home! Boston 8-7 without a single hit this inning!
8th top: Tazawa comes in after Mujica strikes Espinosa out. Tazawa handles the side proving once again that the bull pen is king.
8th bottom: Pedroia and Papi both get on but are stranded. Uehara takes Tazawa's place.
9th top: Uehara throws nothing but splitter fast balls to sit Bryce Harper down. Zimmerman sends one foul that made me pucker up a bit. Crisis averted and Zimmerman's could-be homer is reviewed and confirmed foul. Uehara is playing like he wasn't even injured to start the season as Allen Craig rushes in to prevent a single. Two outs in the top of the 9th with Robinson at bat... Uehara seals the deal! Red Sox 8-7!!!
