Alright, I'm pushing the soapbox back under the pulpit. My winter wonderland fairytale began on Valentine's Day in the faux strip mall wannabe town of Boone, NC. I spent the weekend with my better half and it almost killed me.. We're sitting at our favorite little philosopher nerd's pub and restaurant, Galileo's and that's when it hit us: it's getting bad outside. Chloe and I made our way back to App State's campus and watched in horror as my chances of escape grew more and more doubtful. The next day God saw fit to let me out at about 3 PM (how snow melts at -25° wind chill is beyond me but whatever).
I had all of 12 hours rest before Tazewell got her turn. We have been blessed with sleet and freezing rain and snow and rain and sleet and snow (in that order) for about 15 hours now.. East Tennessee has an odd Russian back-alley feel right now. Even my fellow Our Amateur Hour writer, Eric "DJ Alty Smith" Altenhof, is stranded in Crossville, TN experiencing his fair share of power outages and public unrest. We can only hope rioting begins there.. His luck needs to turn around, right? (Don't feel too sorry for him, he's put up in nice hotel on the clock. I'm the one walking to gas stations in the snow only to find them all closed down for the day already)
All I know is that I have coffee and a brand spanking new Spotify playlist with Andrew McMahon's entire catalog keeping me cozy tonight.
And with that I bid you all safe travels and good will. Good luck. Goodnight. And God bless.
