Destiny Beta Has Gone and Past

The beta for the highly anticipated MMO (massively multiplayer online game) Destiny has ended after being released to everyone on Xbox Live and PSN. Taco and Alty grabbed their Xbox controllers, and after waiting patiently for the 5 GB download, they tag-teamed the world to take over the universe!

Ah Destiny, the game to begin the transition into the new direction of gaming. Destiny brings the pleasure of computer online gaming to the console. I was not completely sold after the tutorial mission, but a few more mission and complete customization changed my tune. The co-op action swayed me. Taco and I had more fun trying to buy, and find, better gear than actually playing the game. We also did have fun with the multiplayer which really only revealed one game type, which is basically Domination from Call of Duty or any usual 3 base style game type. The sniper was my favorite gun to use, and it was my enemies least favorite.....

There are MANY comparisons to World of Warcraft in Destiny. The customization, the multiplayer rewards, and the reputation systems all seem to take notes from the Blizzard game, but this is not a bad thing. Destiny found a way to morph Halo and World of Warcraft, and its fantastic.

The beta for Destiny very well could be the cleanest beta release ever. I've played my fair share of betas and most are clunky or their matchmaking capabilities are terrible. I do expect a lot of changes come September 9th, but the beta was more fun than expected.

Oh that looks like it needs to be blown up
The storyline could easily be one of the drawbacks for the game. There did not seem to be anything unique to Destiny that I could not find in other game. SPOILER: The game is circled around a colony made up of guardians (protectors of the Tower) that is protecting a humongous orb called the Traveler that somehow advanced Earth's technology and human lifespan by 3x. But, here is the obvious downfall, there is a darkness that is trying to destroy the Traveler. OH NO! It destroyed much of Earth and now it's up to you and your fellow guardians to break this darkness harnessing the power of the light........wow. I expect this to become more indepth after the game is officially released, but the premise has raised some concern. I do not doubt Bungie though. The Halo series was a sci-fi trilogy (the did not make Halo 4) that was filled with indepth story plots and battles.

I'm looking forward to standing in line with Taco for this gem.

This weekend could be the reason I get back into videogames hardcore. I haven't purchased a new release in so long that I can't even tell you which game it was. With that said, I will be in line for Destiny!

First let's break down what Destiny really is. It's a hybrid FPS (First Person Shooter) and MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) with the best of both worlds. FPS games like Call of Duty concentrate heavily on the multiplayer component of their games and causing most gamers to casually disregard the campaigns all together. RPGs like Fable create rich stories and environments and MMO games like World of Craft allow hundreds of players the opportunity to interact all together in the same world. Wouldn't you want this all rolled into one? Well you have it with Destiny!

The Mass Effect series was the first to take a shooter RPG and give it a crazy intense storyline to draw in all types of gamers, but Destiny is doing it right. (But then again they do have the Xbox One to play with)

Pretty Lights
Pretty lights.....

September 9th. Hurry up, even if you are on a Tuesday.
