Game 1 Loss: Wainwright Keeps it 100

Opening Day 2015 is here and baseball finally is back! I've been a North Side Chicago baseball fan for as long as I can remember, and this is the season I've been waiting for.

Big-name free agent Jon Lester now calls Wrigley Field home along with Miguel Montero. The bullpen upgraded with Jason Motte and Phil Coke to set up Hector Rondon. My boy Dexter Fowler was added to the outfield and Tommy La Stella currently is starting at 2nd base.

Game 1 of 162 did not end as it was drawn up. There was no crowd in the outfield thanks to the construction of the video board in left field, which made attendance low. Fans and players suffered a brisk 40 degree temperature with a strong wind blowing towards home plate.

Now the bad news. Facing Adam Wainwright.

Cardinals 3, Cubs 0

Wainwright just killed it. I do not like him, but he is so good. He out performed Lester tonight, and shut down all hitters.

This loss can be chalked up to Wainwrights' talent and the Cubs going 0-13 RISP. There were 13 Cubbies in scoring position that were left on base. THAT stat is telling to me. Runners got on base, but could not get home. We have some offense, but it did not show tonight.

Let's see if we can at least take one game in this series, because if we get swept, there will be more questions asked about Kris Bryant, Addison Russell, and what's wrong with Maddon.

Next game is 4-7 at 7:05pm. See you then.
